Marmalade

Marmalade was the 2nd stop on our "No Reservations Needed" tour, mind you it was 3hrs after stop #1!! This place was more trendy, very upscale and highly recommended.. Located right in the heart of Old San Juan, Marmalade had our tastes buds salivating as soon as we opened the menu!! So many choices from start to finish.. And in true Greedy Gurlz fashion we ordered 4 dishes!!

Our 1st dish was the white bean soup with bacon, scallions, and black truffle oil.. This soup was so good!! It was creamy and full of flavor.. We pretty much licked the bowl clean!!

Our next tasty treat was the Paella Rolls.. Lil bites of Paella goodness topped with creme fresh, greens on top of a mango sauce..

After that we got the peaches wrapped with marscapone cheese and proscuitto.. What a great combination of flavors and textures,, all good!!

Our final moment of greediness came when we ordered dessert!! Wow!! Called Coffee & Donuts this delectable dessert was chocolate beignets filled with chocolate, rolled in nuts and sprinkled with powdered sugar on top of a raspberry sauce!! Ummm.. Then you dip it in the hot chocolate sauce topped with raspberry sauce and cream foam.. Umm umm umm!! This was perfect ending..

Can U Say Mofongo??

El Patio de Sam

I was once told, If you ever go to Puerto Rico, you must try Mofongo!! So on our 24 hr trip to Old San Juan, El Patio de Sam was the 1st stop on our " No Reservations Needed" trip! And boy was that the best stop on the trip.. We started off with the Mahi Mahi Ceviche with tomatoes, lettuce and tostones.. The fish was fresh, the tostones were crisp, each bite was tasty and had my mouth wanting more!! A nice light start to the main course..

Being the Greedy Girls we are, we were not stopping there!! Our next course, was of course the famous Mofongo Relleno (stuffed w/ chicken) w/ garlic sauce... OMG!! Words cannot explain how awesome this dish was.. Clearly the #1 choice on the menu, everyone in the resteraunt was ordering it!! The Mofongo's outer shell of the crispiest tostones mashed and seasoned to perfection had a texture that was pleasing to the mouth.. Along with the chicken breast that filled the Mofongo and the garlic sauce on top!! We could not stop eating this wonderful dish.. El Patio de Sam hands down has the best Mofongo!!

Who's House??? Hen House!!!

Boston has finally gotten a chicken and waffles joint!!Right in the hood! This place is just what a sister was looking for. With a cafeteria style seating, flat screens, and good food, Hen House was definitly a great choice for a sunday afternoon eating extravaganza for a Greedy Gurl such as myself. The menu has the works.... They have a 5 step system for ordering, 1st the waffle, 2nd the butter, 3rd the syrup, 4th the chicken and last but not least the 5th step... the sauce. So... I got the Buttermilk waffle, whipped butter, the honey clove syrup (omg), chicken wings with an apricot chipolte sauce.... It was sooooo good!!! I inhaled my food, the waffle was perfect!!!The chicken was seasoned just the way I like it... (you know they had to have used a brown paper bag to coat the chicken)... along with that we got sides, The mac & cheese was undenialbly the best mac and cheese I have had at any resturant in Boston!! Liz had the Greens and said they were the most authentic greens she's had at any resturant!! We also tried the smoked cheddar grits, not so good, way too smokey, but other than that I have no complaints... But it was the dessert that put me over the edge, not only did it sound good, look good, it tasted even better... called the "tryin' to be good" it's a multi grain waffle with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, granny smith apples, granola and cinnamon, Omigooodness... it was sinfully delicious. If you are looking for some good ole homestyle cooking, go to Hen House you won't regret it. Right off RT.93 exit 18 take a left on Mass ave. and your on your way!!

You can never go wrong with Bisuteki! The food is the bomb... I am never disappointed. Funny thing happened while waiting for them to fill up the table. Victor, myself and another couple was sitting there and the hostess comes over with a family of four, the mother took one look at all of us and was like " oh no! " it's too hot in here... I can't do this! People are so funny... She took one look at the mix of people the table and was out... But that was cool... the people who took there place was so much more friendly.... I got the swordfish, shrimp, and steak.... delicioso... love Bisuteki... Can't wait to eat the left overs!

I LOVE A GOOD DIVE BAR

I went to this great place over the weekend.... The Galway in Jamaica Plain, Ma. This place is dark, and divey. But when I tell you the food was off the hook!! It was off the hook! They always have specials on the wall.. twin lobsters for 21.95, "can't beat that", pasta's, fried food, anything your heart's desire. We got a fried seafood plater to split cuz the portions were huge and our greedy assez had to order 2 appetizers, side salad and soup, but back to the seafood plater, it was so good... a ton of food... fried just right. I was stuffed! The food was good, service was good, price was good... can't say anything bad about this place. Next time I go, I'm gonna order the chicken parm.. It looked so good I wanted to tackle the waitress and steal bite of it off the plate.

This Place Left Me Wanting "SABUR"

My first revue is of a wonderful Exotic Mediteranean resturant called Sabur. Sabur is located in between Teele Sq. and Davis Sq. in Somerville, Ma. I have been driving past this resturant for months, just dying to go inside... You walk into this place and it smells delicious!!! The atmosphere is very exotic, almost mysterious. Thay have the resturant side which was nice.. but then they have the lounge side which was so inviting.. so you know that's where we sat. They had couches with pillows, warm colors and a live band. The food is Bosnian, not sure exactly where Bosnia was, I got on the internet and Googled Bosnian food. Excited to try something diffrent and being the Greedy Gurlz that we are, we went off when we got the menu. To start off we order our drinks and apps..two of course..My drink was called the Persephone, a pomergranate infused Horinitos, with lime juice and Citronage.. how good was that... Liz had the Saburska, the most tastey refreshing peach drink I ever tried... But the appetizers..OMG...we ordered the zucchini and feta fritters with ajvar, which is a tasty tomato type sauce for dipping, the flavors were just so good.. Then we got a an eggplant and roasted red pepper dip with goat cheese... this dip was so good I could not stop eating it!! DELICIOUS!! And of course we got entrees too!! I ordered the Lamb Stew, it was so good, the Au Jus had the best flavor, the lamb was tender, I cleaned my plate, wanted to lick the plate dry it was so good. Liz got the Grilled Chicken with Wild Mushroom and Spinach. The spinich was so fresh it was pretty.. the creamy sauce was just the perfect touch to an absolutely delightful meal. This food was great compfort food.. the iitis started to kick in and it took everything in our power not to lay across the couches and go to sleep!!! But of course it didn't end there... we got the dessert menu and OMG.. all I could do is SMH! The options seemed endless and not being familiar with Bosnian Cuisine, we had the waiter recommend a dessert and booooy can I just tell you...SMH.. all I can say is Glazed Apricot, stuffed with Marscapone cheese, topped with Toasted Almonds!! NOT NORMAL was all we could get out our mouths as we devoured this amazing treat.. After all that wonderfulness I was left wanting "SABUR"!
